How many movies can an external hard drive store?

asked:

Say I buy movies strictly off of iTunes and transfer the purchases to an external hard drive (I have Vista). Roughly, how many movies would you say could be stored on a 500gb external hard drive, a 750gb external hard drive, and a 1tb external hard drive (list them separately)? Thanks folks!

    1. Yikes Says:

      Well, a typical standard movie is around 700 mb while the same in HD would be 1.5 gb
      So if you average them to be 1 gigabyte that would be 500 movies on the 500 gb drive.
      Double that for the tb if you didn’t know.
      [blue rays 4 to 8 gbs.]

      it completely depends on what qualtiy and how much size a movie is of…..
      -A normal avi movie (usually divided in 2 parts part 1 and part 2) is of 700mb each
      -a dvd qualtiy wud be from 3gb to 4gb
      -hd should 5gb to 7gb (nt sure on hd)
      -a blue ray qualtiy will be 8gb +
      1tb =1000 gb
      1gb = 1000 mb
      So i think ull be able to figure it out u r self….coz the size and quality is dependent on u.
      All da best
